Anna Raczynska (PL/DE)

31.07.2023 - 31.10.2023

Anna Raczynska (*1990 in Bielsko-Biala PL, lives in Leipzig) belongs to a young generation of Polish artists. Her work includes objects, pictures, sculptures and installation works. In her formal language, Raczynska often falls back on everyday objects, which she decontextualises through modification of shape, materiality and size. In addition to ironic gestures, formal and content-related arguments with the material are essential aspects of her work. The goal of each exhibition is to create your own narrative. There is no doubt that Raczynska plays with matter deliberately, above all referring to the specificity of the place where she works. Her art installations are a form of play which the artist deforms to give her works a unexpected direction. Considering how little the artist is interested in the fate of the exhibited works, she could be considered a representative of a generation that attaches more importance to what is experienced rather than what remains – experience takes precedence over the object. Its viewers are left in a vacuum between empathy and mockery, and are taken on a journey of taming new realities.
